My name is Mike Wells, I live in Leeds and have done so all my life. I have been an Advisor within Pia Financial Solutions since 2011 and I have been working in Financial Services since 1996. I cut my teeth working for three large banking groups until 2003 when I set down the mortgage path. For 5 years I was employed in the Mortgage Broker sector visiting clients in their homes all over the UK until the financial crash of 2008 saw many lenders leave the market and redundancy followed.
I established myself as a self-employed Mortgage Broker in February 2008 and I haven’t looked back since!I have worked hard in this industry to create a great client experience, and I offer a one-to-one service where my clients will only ever deal with me. I like the personal service, and my clients seem to like it too.
I have not once advertised myself and every client I have has been a personal recommendation from an existing client or a professional introduction from Inedendant Financial Advisers I have worked with in the past (what better indication of trust and service than to be introduced by somebody else placing their professional reputation on the service that I offer) as well as a select few Accountants and Estate Agents. On this note I am proud that after 30 years in Financial Services I have not had a single complaint.
Outside of Financial Services I spent 7 years from the age of 16 in a DIY store. This is where I met my Wife, Claire, who now works as a Teacher. We have been together since 1995 and we married in 1998. We have four amazing children, I say children I currently own 3 men and a teenager, so I fully understand the efforts it takes to make your family life work and how precious that time is.
In my time I have helped in the local Cub/Scout Group and helped to run some junior football teams, which is much harder than working I can promise you that! In terms of outside interests, I have a love for Leeds United and followed them home and away many moons ago before the joys of full-time work, often at unsocial hours, and bringing up a family refocused my attentions. I have always loved music and comedy and try to attend as many gigs and concerts as I can. Memories are what makes life fun!
Although as I am now in my 50’s bouncing around a mosh pit is not something my knees enjoy. Currently I spend a lot of my weekend watching the Leeds Knights Ice Hockey team and can often be found driving up and down the M1 to watch them.
